How Image Optimization Works

AutoWebp uses advanced compression algorithms to convert your images to the modern WebP format. WebP provides superior compression compared to JPEG and PNG, typically reducing file sizes by 60-90% while maintaining excellent visual quality.

Using the Optimize Images Page

1. Navigate to Optimize Images in the app sidebar
2. Use the tabs to filter: Needs Optimization, All Images, or Optimized
3. Select individual images or click "Select All"
4. Click "Optimize Selected" to start processing
5. Monitor progress in the real-time progress bar

What is Alt-Text?

Alt-text (alternative text) is a description of an image that helps:

How AI Generation Works

AutoWebp uses advanced AI (powered by OpenAI) to analyze your product images and generate contextual, SEO-optimized alt-text. The AI considers:

• Product title and category
• Visual elements in the image
• SEO best practices
• Character length optimization

Smart Product Grouping

Using AI Alt-Text

1. Navigate to AI Alt-Text in the app sidebar
2. Toggle "Show only images missing alt text" to filter
3. Select images individually or use "Select All Missing"
4. Click "Generate Selected" to start AI generation
5. Review generated alt-text in the image cards
6. Edit manually if needed by clicking the edit button

• Keep descriptions concise (125 characters or less)
• Include relevant keywords naturally
• Describe what's in the image specifically
• Avoid starting with "Image of..." or "Picture of..."
• Include product name and key features

Why Filenames Matter for SEO

Search engines use image filenames as a ranking signal. A descriptive, keyword-rich filename helps Google understand your image content and can improve your visibility in image search results.

Dashboard Overview

The Dashboard is your central hub for monitoring store health and managing optimizations. Here's what each section shows:

Store Health Score

Your health score (0-100%) indicates how optimized your store is. It's calculated based on:

• Percentage of images optimized (WebP conversion)
• Percentage of images with alt-text
• Overall SEO readiness

Key Metrics Explained

Monthly Usage Tracking

Track your plan usage with three progress bars:

• Image Optimizations - Number of images converted this month
• AI Alt Texts - AI-generated descriptions this month
• SEO Renames - Files renamed this month

Fix All Issues Button

The "Fix All Issues" button is the fastest way to optimize your entire store. It will:

1. Identify all unoptimized images
2. Convert them to WebP format
3. Generate missing alt-text
4. Rename files for SEO
5. Show real-time progress

Optimization Settings

Auto-Optimize New Images

When enabled, any new product images added to your store will be automatically optimized within minutes. This ensures your store stays optimized without manual intervention.

Generate Alt-Text Automatically

Automatically generate AI alt-text for images during optimization. When enabled, every optimized image will also receive an SEO-optimized description.

SEO File Renaming

Enable automatic SEO-friendly filename generation based on product titles. This transforms generic filenames into keyword-rich URLs.

Quality Settings

• Smart Quality (Recommended) - AI determines optimal compression
• High Quality - Minimal compression, larger files
• Balanced - Good balance of quality and size
• Maximum Compression - Smallest files, some quality loss

Available Plans

Billing Information

• All billing is handled securely through Shopify
• Charges appear on your regular Shopify bill
• Usage resets on the 1st of each month
• Upgrade or downgrade anytime
• Cancel anytime from the Upgrade Plan page

Usage Rollover

Unused quota does not roll over to the next month. We recommend using your full allocation each month to maximize value. Already-optimized images remain optimized even if you downgrade or cancel.
